Once in a blue moon I get the sudden urge to make easy money online through all those ridiculous paid survey sites, money apps, and paid online gigs. I end up spending hours skimming through money blogs, signing up for websites, and ultimately bookmarking tons of shit I’ll never use.
Well, through all of those useless bookmarks and failed survey answers, I’ve found 5 easy ways to make cash online that are actually worth mentioning to friends looking for extra pocket money.
Quick note: These sites are all super exploitative and, tallying the math, you’d make less than a few dollars per hour of effort. This kind of way to make money online is best paired with a crazy boring desk job.
5 sites to make easy money online
Through Fiverr you make your own gig and pricing. Choose things you enjoy offering. For example, I offer to edit written documents or create travel itineraries.
At $0.10 per survey and maybe one survey per week, this is no fast-money. Surveys are mostly about you and only 1-2/week. Surveys take less than 3 minutes and are stupid easy. Need $15 to cash out, tho, so this is kind of a long-term goal.
MTurk (Amazon Mechanical Turk)
Really low paying clickwork from Amazon; surveys pay ‘well’ without too many qualifiers; exploitative but easy and legit….if you’re willing to work with Amazon. Change your settings to require a minimum pay of $0.07/hit to have any chance of decent pocket money.
This is a pretty fun reviewing site for clothing, music, and brands. Nice to hear new music and ability to be a jerk in reviews. However, the site will stop you if you sound repetitive or too vague. Too much effort for earning $0.05 but, again, nice time-filler.
This is a great way to grab $10 IF you qualify. Does require space on phone/laptop that will record your actions. When I’ve qualified for a test, I’m pleasantly surprised with how fast and easy I get that $10. Hey-o, night out!
Survey & Coupon Sites
A lot of bloggers and coupon-ers swear by several sites for gaining cash-back and gift card rewards. Personally, these were not a good fit for me, since I have a very low income and don’t purchase much of anything (Why? How? Mostly because I’m very good at living for almost nothing). Still, they might interest you:
Coupons n Cashback Sites
Swagbucks – This is the #1 most recommended site for earning side money or getting rebates.
Ibotta – Earn cashback by finding coupons online for products you purchase (or purchased) in stores
iPoll – Besides offering surveys, iPoll has “enter to win” lotteries. Also available in an easy mobile format.
Vivatic – Survey site that gives out meager amounts of money for accomplishing small tasks. I’ve found, again, that one has to qualify for the surveys…often requiring a survey beforehand!
Apperwall – $1 per review for trying out apps. Only works if you’re physically located in the US.
Y’all, sex work is work. And this deserves its own header, despite the fact that I haven’t tried any of this. You’ve probably heard by now that you can make money selling underwear, feet pics, and other fetish-y things. Your best bet is Craigslist and Ebay, but stay safe out there you wonderful mthrfckrs. Be sure to read this Vice article about how it’s not as easy to sell that stuff online…it also has all the details on how and where 😉
Legitimate Online Work
The above sites are not a way to earn an income! At most, it’s some nice pocket money every few months. However, if you’re looking for legitimate online employment, there are an increasing number of options.
For example, VIPkid, which pairs children in China with English teachers. Lessons are roughly 30minutes and pay is around $20/hour. Personally, I couldn’t handle it…but I’m also not a kids person.
There are also many research-oriented sites, virtual assistant positions, or transcription jobs. For more info on things like that, you can visit this great article at The Simple Dollar “10 Real Work From Home Jobs for 2018.”
Best Financial Blogs (etc) to Check Out
So, if you’re looking at sites like those above, you probably also want to know some cool sites about getting out of debt, saving for travel, or breaking out of capitalist monetary restrictions! Here are my favorite sites to talk about just those things:
- My all-time favorite blogger when it comes to all things moolah: Ride Free Fearless Money. This punk finance goddess won’t tell you ways to make easy money online. Instead she’ll break down the facts of the our current capitalist system.
- Checkout Mother Jone’s tips for driving creditors crazy and Beating the Bailiffs Guide to know your rights when it comes to repossession
- Finance for Anarchists is an article is an in-depth review of Debt: The First 5,000 Years, written by David Graeber (anthropologist, anarchist, and activist)…who also has an “ask me anything” thread on Reddit.
- Finally, these two articles (here and here) are fairly decent when it comes to paying off debt on a low income
Pro-Tip: the BEST Way to Make Easy Money Online
Alrighty, peeps, for those who’ve made it this far…the REAL way to make money online. Referrals. Any time you sign up with any company, check to see if they have a referral program. This is true for many of the links above (hence, the below disclaimer) and almost all links featured in popular blogs.
Additionally, most major companies offer some kind of ‘reward’ for referring new clients. For example, Booking.com will rebate you $15 if you sign up with a friend’s link and then allow you to invite up to a certain number of others for $25 each. Just like the “first ride free” deal with Uber. If you’re going to use sites like that anyways, might as well make some cash. Right?
Disclaimer: Quite a few of the links are referrals. If you sign up for a site after clicking on my link, I’ll make a small bonus. Cool though, because most offer YOU a bonus too, just for using a referral. If you have a referral link and you’d like me to include it, send me an email!
